A short solid game that is a nice little addition to the series.

User Rating: 7.5 | Tomb Raider Chronicles PS
After the superb Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation, I expected a little more from this game. Tomb Raider Chronicles picks up after The Last Revelation, Lara has been killed raiding a tomb at the end of Tomb Raider 4 and her mentor, Werner Von Croy, is searching for her body, or any other trace of her. Meanwhile, back at the Croft Mansion, three of her old friends are brought together by a memorial service and start to reminisce about Lara's previous adventures.

GAMEPLAY - 8
Not much new in this department. The classic gameplay is still intact and has a few new additions. For starters, Lara can now walk on tightropes, swing on horizontal bars, and now you can drop forward off a ledge while crouching. The swimming in this TR is improved over TR4's, so you won't get stuck so easily. Overall the new additions, while under used, add some variety to the gameplay.

GRAPHICS - 8
The graphics are almost as good as TR4's, but is rough around the edges. CORE must have starved Lara for this game since she looks really skinny compared to the other games. Most of the graphics are just as good as TR4's, but suffers from blocky edges in some area's of the game.

SOUND - 7
The sound really suffered in this Tomb Raider. While normally a high point in the series, it falls short here. Instead of adding to the atmosphere, it distracts.

VALUE - 7
The shortest game in the classic line-up, it racks up about 5 1/2 hours. To add to the replay value, you can find 36 (very small amount) secrets hidden throughout the game. Finding these secrets will unlock a special features section, which includes concept art and a next-gen preview of TR6.

TILT - 7
The gameplay engine used for this game will go downhill from here. I think this is as far as they can push the classic engine. Hopefully CORE will switch to a new engine for TR6.

OVERALL - 7.5
A nice addition to the series meant to keep fans interested in the TR series. If you can find this, I recommend picking it up, It's well worth the 10 bucks.
