THIS GAME IS WHY DOWNLOADABLE CONTENT WAS INVENTED: A Review Containing Actual Details Of The Game

User Rating: 3.9 | Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Critical Hour XBOX
Allow me to blatantly state this so there is no more confusion: THIS GAME IS THE EXACT SAME GAME AS LOCKDOWN.

This game is by far one of the worst ways to spend $30, this game is a slap in the face of logic and anyone who considers themselves fans of the R6 franchise, this game is why downloadable content was invented, and simply put this game should never have been made.

(Literally) The only differences between CH and Lockdown:

-The menu is now red (but otherwise the options are all the same)
-The only selectable SP characters are now Chavez, Loiselle, Weber and Price (and all 4 of them now wear helemets and tactical goggles)
-Enemy AI is now up to par with the enemies of R6:3 Black Arrow, however, they still will walk out to get killed when you pop one of their teammates and will often use scripted behavior like throwing a flashbang at you when you open their door after killing a roomful of their friends, nothing groundbreaking, FEAR-esque, or worth you coming back to however
-The one-shot kills are back in single player... Wait, Lockdown already had those...
-Every PEC mode class now has ONE new additional upper-level skill (Medic gets a new deployable virus, SpecOps can scan the level with GPS and shows everyone every enemy location)
-There are 7 new single player maps
-There are 8 new multiplayer maps
-Much of the lag encountered in multiplayer player animation has been reduced and players can no longer burst around the maps
-The Assassin mode has been included, basically each team has a VIP that, when killed, ends the round
-The game has free-for-all sharpshooter and survival modes that weren't included in Lockdown but were in Black Arrow
-PEC mode has been expanded, players can now rank up to level 60, however there is a widely known glitch that allows players to jump levels rapidly, therefore you will see a lot of level 51 medics with 22 kills, 55 deaths and 20 mins of playing time

EVERYTHING NOT ON THAT LIST IS THE SAME AS LOCKDOWN. THAT MEANS...

-Balaclavas (ninja masks) still cost TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS
-Camouflage, which you actually will need on some maps such as Siberia, still costs FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS
-Medium / Heavy Armor is still ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS
-NO NEW PEC ITEMS HAVE BEEN ADDED and you can't even combine items, a basic request of players of the original Lockdown, aka you are unable to equip a balaclava, tactical goggles and a ballistic helmet at the same time...
-Experience still goes up INCREDIBLY SLOWLY and has no bearing on wins, losses, kills or deaths
-Medals are exactly the same with new medals being added for the 3 new game modes
-NO NEW WEAPONS HAVE BEEN ADDED; there are only four scoped weapons and no way to upgrade anything, all guns fire the same as in Lockdown, meaning the whole spray-and-pray mentality is back as bursting or single shooting in multiplayer gets you NOWHERE
-NO NEW DEVICES HAVE BEEN ADDED; WP grenades still have the radius of a nuclear explosion, you can toss one up into a sniper balcony and kill and kill an entire team, I still encountered the Lockdown glitch where you could run through shooting to death an enemy who is throwing a WP grenade and still be killed by the explosion even though he made the throw and you were 20 yards BEHIND him...

As for the multiplayer gameplay being tweaked to one-shot-one-kill as in previous R6 games... That is a lie. Players all move the same speed and fire just as accurately holding down the trigger in full auto as they do when you burstfire or shoot single shots.

EVIDENCE OF LOCKDOWN RUN-AND-GUN GAMEPLAY (From both points of view):

My first game I played was team sharpshooter on Village. I proceeded to run out the Green spawn and straight into an opposing player, I killed him by strafing past him and spray 40 bullets from my MP7SD into his head. I then emerged into the main area but immediately saw two more enemies in front of me, they shoot at me but I strafe to cover behind the fruit stand to the right. I wait for the first one to come out and spray around 15 bullets into his head and as he goes down I strafe around the corner and spray the remainder of my clip into his teammate who seems to have had the same idea I did and was standing still, his bullets hit me but do barely hurt me. I immediately turn and go up the stairs behind me while reloading, as soon as I get up the stairs I check my left and right and notice another enemy coming towards me through the windows along the adjoining hallway. I hide behind some pots and wait, I then strafe out and spray his head and he goes down. I reload and proceed down the hallway and peek around the corner seeing another of his teammates coming towards me. He is the entire length of the corridor, as big of a distance as there can be on this map and I empty 40 bullets into him and he goes down but manages to barely hurt me again (as he was most likely bursting at me). I proceed down the hallway and realize I never checked the stairway that leads up from the red base and just as I am about to turn I am shot in the back and killed. 5 kills for my 1 death simply by running around aiming for the head.

One of my last games today was Assassin on the MP map based on the first SP map (Fire Walk). I had my roommate who was the VIP go hide in the shed at the back of the level with a few teammates guarding him while myself and two others went to kill the opposing VIP. Immediately after we leave the shed we notice some kid in white camo peeking around the stairway door back by the main area, he manages to kill my teammate and I take off after him as he goes inside. Suddenly he runs out of the door and lets loose on me, we both have the same guns (MP7) and both are shooting full auto at each other. Somehow we both empty our guns on each other and take our health down by half, he runs behind the building reloading and I camp behind the stairs and reload. I decide to wait for him, he runs out and goes fullauto on my head as I burst at his head from a fixed position; I die, he lives. I respawn and run back to that same position, this time I run behind the building and go full-auto on his head while strafing to the right, somehow he manages to kill me instantly by running straight at me and shooting full-auto. I respawn and this time I whip a flashbang behind the building; he throws a WP grenade. I die. This should never happen because the flashbang should have blinded him and he should not have been able to throw a grenade at me... Unless he was far enough away that the flash didn't affect him but then that brings the fact that the WP has a ridiculous range into argument.

All of this adds up to disasterous disappointment; WHY would former Lockdown players like myself, who have amassed the maximum rank and have excellent stats, who have their PEC profiles with every conceivable visual player upgrade want to LOSE all of their progress and slowly trudge along the same maps with the same guns, same modes and same lack of experience levels NOT added by playing them to get back EXACTLY what they had previously?!

And furthermore, if this game offers LESS in the way of single player content and EXACTLY the same multiplayer gameplay as Lockdown, why would people who have NEVER played Lockdown want to buy this game?!

This begs the question: With essentially 7 single player maps added, 8 multiplayer maps, 1 new cutscene, and only 4 new PEC skills... what the hell even is this game and WHY WAS THIS NOT JUST RELEASED AS DOWNLOADABLE CONTENT?!

This game is worth no more of my time and definitely none of yours and I hope this 'review' helps more people save their money.
