Released unfinished. Totally broken game, with no repair in sight.
Who knows? I can only speculate.
I do know this game, on paper, is good. But in practice, bad code that will freeze your console, server issues galore, multi-player nightmares and no hint of support make it another "could have been" that is just a "leave it on the shelf" title. It's a sad, very disappointing turn for a beloved franchise. Problems which could be fixed, but most likely won't.
It's to bad Tom Clancy himself puts his name on everything without having any input and power over quality control. I would like to believe he has enough integrity to be pissed about how bad the workmanship on this title is, but most likely, the extent of his involvement with this title was making sure the check cleared.
