somewhat dissapointing
im a long time fan of the Tiger Woods series and have always loved them, so my expectations were very high for the newest installment.
Unfortunetly this game didn't live up.
The game is unforgivable. There is no mercy. If you mess up, you are SCREWED. First off, don't expect to be good when you first start. Your player reflects his stats almost too well. When your stats are low, it's nearly impossible to do anything at all.
If you can make it to the green, you have 2 choices.
You can stick to the origonal putting style with the caddie tips that tell you where to aim your putt.
The other option is the new style putting which gives you a very detailed grid of all the breaks in the green and an elevation meter. This is very difficult to master. I think the only way to be good with this is hours and hours of practice or to be a golfer yourself(which is the only way I was able to survive.).
The differant game modes and such are really cool, and I love the new addtions to the courses. The graphics are to be what's expected in a PS2 game, fair, but nothing spectacular.
Overall it's a pretty good game if you're a first timer, but if you've been a fan of the series thus far, you'll most likely be dissapointed with it. The arcadey style gameplay of the past is no more.
They're going all out with realism in this game making it very difficult.
I'd recomend either renting it or buying it used.
Don't just go out and buy it because it is vastly differant and you may not like it if you are a fan of the series up to this point!!!!!
