Was and still, a very overlooked game which at its time was surrounded by very childish titles to suit the then market.

User Rating: 7.7 | Theme Hospital PS
Two of my favourite games for the Playstation were Bullfrog games. Populas (Newer version that is) and Theme Hospital really just craved my need for strategy on a console. I no longer have Populas but I still do have my copy of Theme Hospital and even among a lush library of titles I still have that craving to enjoy a spin at Theme Hospital. Now I do remember there being a Surgeon game back in the days of the old tape systems but apart from that, this is the only Hospital Sim I have encountered to date. Despite the fact it does get quite repetitious as you make your way through the various levels, it still compels you in most ways. Those of you who prefer the plethora of today's PS budget price games will most likely find no fun in this. I warn you because despite my classification for this game being "Rent it first", try and find a place that stocks old PS games for rent (In the UK anyway). It's just one of those try before you buy games. If you enjoy the likes of Black & White and Fable, then you'll enjoy hearing that big Peter M did indeed have input into this game before he left to form Lionhead Studios. If you liked Theme Park, then you're going to love Theme Hospital. You are basically the director of a hospital and as such dictate which offices go where, who to employ, financial & growth (but not as far as synergy) among a few other things. Sounds like a pretty basic bland set-up but at that, a very catchy set-up. There's not much to say to the game but you will be visited by no name celebrities, inspectors, patients (obviously), emergency situation casualties, Invisible men and hairy wookies! Yes these are some of the ludicrous but laugh out loud situations you will encounter as the game progresses. Good gameplay, flawless graphics, supported by some real clunky sound. The opening movie should catch your eye and it's up to you if you believe this game is worth playing. In my opinion, if you don't, you'll miss out on a gem. The game is built on some great ulterior jokes and gags that you'll either find amazingly cheesy or well done. Why should you play this game? Doctor's orders.
