Mysterious and unique story...
The World Ends With You is an action RPG with, once again, a very unique style. The game has you exploring the city, shopping, completing objectives, watching dialogue between characters, and of course engaging in high velocity battles, among other mini games.
Exploring the city is what ties everything together. You can find battles, complete objectives, and find shops. It's basically the overworld for everything you do. To move around you simply point your stylus where you want to go and Neku will walk there. Entering shops will make a list of items appear for sale. You simple double tap one of the items or drag it to the cart to buy it. You can buy CD's, pin's for battle, food, clothing, and more.
The battle is split onto both of the DS screens, taking place simultaneously. The bottom screen always holds Neku while the top screen holds Neku's partner. The top screen character can be controlled by entering a series of button presses on the dpad. It uses a combo system where once you press the direction you want the character to attack, it opens up a list of directions to press and you press those direction to unleash a combo attack. That same character never actually move around the screen though, instead being set to the middle of the screen at all times (unless knocked about from attacks). The top screen character can be set on auto, however. Though you'll need to learn how to use it manually for a few bosses and other tough fights. As Neku you have a deck of attack called Pins
The World Ends With You is one of the most memorable experiences it's incredibly deep, so it might be too complex for some gamers
