Awsome! Love the film?, Love the game!! Best ever movie to game adaptation

I highly recommend watching John Carpenters 1982 film The Thing before playing this game. The story of the game follows 3 months after the events of the film with a U.S operations unit lead by Blake (you) and commanded by Whitley.

It was suggested that this game was to be based on controlling your team's emotions, fears and trust, which you do but, not as much as I had hoped. There are a few problems with this game, the other characters which you meet during the game aren't that well thought out. Every time you meet a new character you'll want to test them to see if they have THE THING, but don't waste your testing kit!! All the characters have set times and points in the game where they are set to change to THE THING or after you pass from level to another they get left behind (trust me I've tried very hard to keep at least one constant character, go to stupid lengths and it just doesn't work.)

Right, off the bad points and onto the GOOD. In my opinion this game is the best of its kind. Though it's an old game now it still is a great game, great story and fantastic LEAD characters. As hard as it may be and as confusing it can be at times it still stands out as the best movie to game adaptation, probably due it being released 20 years after the film. There are a few moments in this game that had me stuck for a few days at a time and highly stressed, but once you finally overcome them your straight back into the games story. The story its self takes some unexpected but good plot turns and for fans of the movie you find out what happened after the events of the film and get to see characters Childs and Macready, (dead or alive though…..?)

Overall if you're a fan of the film like me you'll find the mistakes in the game forgivable, but to players who haven't seen the film this maybe a hit or miss game, you just have to forgive the graphics of 2003 but there not terrible, doesn't hinder the gaming experience. Once again thank you KONAMI!!!
