A Genesis classsic
The revenge of shinobi was a particular joy for me as it was one of the games i was brought up playing along with many other retro games. This game introduced fast paced, ninja style killing, hard boss fights, great music and awesome special abilities. one particular move which was common throughout the hole game was the characters mid air spin. by using the jump button twice, the character was able to make a mid-air spin whilst firing shurikins in a circular motion killing or severely damaging enemies in its path.
All the special moves available only at particular times of the game were the likes of a self destruction which is only useful if you happen to have two specials at any one time, lightning shield which is temporary but very helpful it dangerous situations and a fire rain which covers the screen in fire killing or badly hurting enemies and bosses.
All the special abilities, music, combat, level design etc is what make this game a great game and will stay in my heart for a long time to come. I’m not sure if this may appeal to you the way it did to me, but i would recommend it to anyone interested in the genre who is willing to play a little retro gaming in there spare time.
