Well at least it's better than the last game.

User Rating: 7 | The Matrix: Path of Neo XBOX
Enter The Matrix was the first matrix game to let you bend the matrix to your will. However this game was seriously lackluster, and wasn't really well developed. Now that the Path of Neo is out, you can finally be the One. I just wish it was better.

Gameplay: The Matrix: PON keeps some of the same gameplay mechanics from ETM. The combat system is re-vamped, and is actually quite nice. There is plenty of off-the-chain, balls-to-the-wall action. You start off a combo and in the middle of the combo you are given certain button presses that can lead into more different and powerful attacks. The button system is slightly like God Of War. The hand to hand combat is executed well, but the gunplay is HORRIBLE. Absolutely atrocious targeting makes shooting enemies a real chore. Jumping off the walls while unloading your guns may look cool, but its completely useless. I found that I defeated more enemies with my fists and some melee weapons rather than guns. On that note, melee weapons are nice but not needed, since they barely appear in the game. The only times I got to use a sword was in the tutorials and the action scene in the Merovingians mansion, that came from Matrix Reloaded.

Graphics: Nice textures appear in the game from time to time, but beyond that there are some serious glitches in this game. Pop-in was evident everywhere, and character animations can feel stiffer than a corpse with rigamortis. There are only TWO count 'em TWO FMV's in the game, and that's only to showcase the games half ass alternate ending. Other than that the story is handled with pieces of all three films mixed and matched.

Audio: Not half bad. Atari managed to aquire some decent voice actors for the game. The music is what you would think would be in a Matrix game. But besides that it's just the same as the movies.

Overall: There were some strange things happening in this game, such as the weird giant ant-men, and the session of congress in which Smith greases what looks like to be Jack Thompson ( Thanks Smith). The ending......sucks. The ending in no way changes the storyline whatsoever, and I found that the giant Smith was really cheesy. I liked the game personally. But I can see why some people would absolutely oppose this game. I recommend this for hardened matrix fans.
