The Lord Of All Strategy Games.

The Lord Of The Rings: The Battle For Middle Earth 2, is perhaps the best strategy game I have ever played. And trust me, I have played a lot of strategy games, probably around 5 dozen.

Basically, BFME2, is the set it the North of Middle Earth during the time of the War of the Ring, where the war between the swift Elves, sturdy Dwarfs, and Goblins scums rages on. To start off, BFME2 has a Good and Evil campaign to fill you in with the story. To me, the campaign is basically, your real tutorial, which allows and explains to you how to use the units, power, heroes, and much more in different scenarios. In addition, it invites you back to Lord Of the Rings lore by showing you a whole new story and place that wasn't shown in the movies.

There are 6 factions to play, Men Of The West, which is a mixture of Rohan and Gondor, Elves, Dwarfs, Mordor, Isengard, and Goblins who are a mixture of wild/evil monsters and goblins. What's interesting about this is, despite the fact that there are 6 factions, they are very different from each other. They all have their strong points, they all have their weaknesses, and they all have their different style of play. For example, Goblins are more of a "Hit and Run" type of army, they are best played if you use your numbers to out number your enemies and run using your speed, and tunnels when you see reinforcement coming. While, Men of the West are more of a stand together with your heroes and bash everyone through. Nevertheless, they all have different abilities, units, building, and style of play.

BFME 2 also introduces, new powers using your power points which you gain in different way, the best is by killing enemy units. In addition, it brings new heroes, and even allows you to create your own personal hero to use in game. It even brings a new way to play, called war of the ring, which basically a Total War Scenario, if you even played Total War, then you would know what it is. If not, I suggest you look it up because it's quite hard to explain correctly.

Another great thing about this game is how it uses so many way to crush your opponent correctly. You can Flank your opponents units, stealth your way through, use tunnels, assassinate units or heroes, you can turtle, you can rush, heck, you can even burn the ground to inflict burning damage, spread fear, use tier powers, and dozen of other ways.

However, what I love about the game is not the versatility of the factions, or even the new things it brings from BFME1, but its how it puts everything together so nicely. There aren't many games out there, that allow you to control over 200-300 units in a very nice battlefield, with heroes, and special powers, all the while keeping the balance steady for both players. There are too few game out there that try to even achieve it, let allow accomplish it. BFME2, is one of those game that actually accomplish it.

To me, there hasn't been a game other there that I liked more. I have played this game for hours online with my friends and random people, and it has provided me with an experience I wont forget easily.
