Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda, is considered to many as video games golden jewel franchise, since it features a great story driven adventure, with devious puzzles, beautiful enviorments, exceptional sound, and some of the most expressive and memorable characters in gaming. Nintendo's dished up Link's latest adventure, in the Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. Not only is The Wind Waker in amazing game on its own rights, but the world it takes place in, and the graphics that fuel the Wind Waker, easily makes it one of the best games in the series. The story featured in the Wind Waker, is totally different than past Zelda games, since the story takes place on the high seas, and the extremely lifelike islands. The story starts out as Link's sister is kidnapped by an evil menacing bird, and with Link's grandma extremely saddned, Link pursues his lost sister an one of the most memorable adventures Link will encounter. At first it may seem as if the Wind Waker is an extreme departure of the previous Zelda games, but as you progress through the Wind Waker, you'll get the impression that it ties up pretty well with the rest of the series. The gameplay in the Wind Waker, is really unchanged from its previous predecessors, its more like its been sleeked up a bit, with better movement, and some new moves such as the side strafing. The gameplay is flawless in every sense, and is truly a masterpeice to behold. Link's classic weapons are still here, and you'll find them just as lethal and helpful than its previous installments. The weapons featured in the Wind Waker aren't revolutionary in any sense, but it sure does make it just as fun to play as its previous titles. The games graphical effects are impressive, the cartoonish artistic style implemented in the Wind Waker is amazing, and brings the characters to life. Once you actually behold the Wind Waker, you will get the indication that Nintendo pulled off something unseen in cel-shading games. The games effects are as bit as impressive as its gameplay. The games blur effects in later dungeons are amazingly well done, and the overall look and feel of its enviorments are state of the art. If you haven't noticed the Wind Waker is clearly one of the best looking games to date. It's extremely dissapointing that Nintendo once again has not added voice acting in the game, but maybe its for the better. The music in the game though is flawless, featuring some of the best production values ever seen in recent memory. Some the music in the game is from previous Zelda titles, some are redone, and remixed. All in all its impressive to boot, and is easily one of the more impressive values of the Wind Waker. The sound effects are also well done, but can be repitive at times. Such as Link's grunts, are well done, but after a while it tends to wear on you. Nonetheless, in terms of sound the Wind Waker is just about perfect. One of the best things about the Wind Waker, is the fact that it features extremely expressive characters, which is basically unseen in video games, and the artistic style Shigeru Miyamoto took are as every bit as flawless. The looks expressed in the Wind Waker, gives you an emotion unseen in any game before it, and is extremely polished. Nintendo's latest achievement with the Wind Waker is every bit as a must-have as the Ocarina of Time. And while many fans of the series we're disgruntled by the cartoonish looks, and its backtracking, its evident in all its form that the Wind Waker is an extremely satisfying adventure that will leave you breatheless.
