Terrific remake of one of the best action adventure games ever.
I don't care too much about graphics, but by the gods this game has to be one of the prettiest things ever created. The art style is amazing, and I for one am a fan of the lighting changes. The quality isn't consistent throughout, but it's not especially noticeable either. Even with the base game 10 years old, this is one of the best looking games out there.
Gameplay - 9
The gameplay of the original game was simple and offered quite a bit of variety. This time around, it's even better as Link can easily switch items he needs on the gamepad. Other changes, like the swift sail are a welcome change. However, I would have preferred if they had added something more significant, like Skyward Sword's upgrade system, which gave more meaning to collecting items and rupees.
Sound - 10
As with graphics and gameplay Nintendo didn't change too much with the sound, but they did tweak it a little bit. Wind Waker's soundtrack was already one of the best of any games, and it's even better here. Just wait until you get the ship and go to Dragon Roost Island.
Value - 8
The game still lags at the end, even with Nintendo's small changes. Also, if you've played this game before, Hero Mode will add some spice but not as much as something more significant would have (as in, new dungeons or islands.) Since we are dishing out the full price for the game, it's value isn't especially brilliant if you have already played it. Nevertheless the original game is good enough to justify the price, especially for first time buyers.
