The Ages part of the Seasons/Ages games is as equal to its counterpart in every way.

I've started to play this game again after completing seasons just so I could fight the secret linked game boss and playing it after the years I had completed it the first time does not diminish the game in any way, this game is still superb in all departments and is worth playing it again.

The story is similar to Seasons, after answering a favour to the tri-force Link is transported to the place of Labrynna and has to destroy the evil that is coming from there, the bad guy in this story takes the form of sorceress Veran who in an attempt to do something bad to Labrynna takes possession of the oracle of ages Nayru. This then sends time into chaos and the only way to stop the chaos is to retrieve the 8 essences of time in order for the Maku tree to be able to aid you in defeating Veran.

That's the basis of this game as you go around fighting enemys and conquering the bosses in the games dungeons. The game plays exactly as Seasons and plays very similarly to Links Awakening, this is no bad thing as Links Awakening in my mind has the best gameplay system ever made, and Ages builds on it by adding the ability to control time which allows you travel back and forth between past and present versions of Labrynna. This incorporates some enjoyable puzzle sections and is vital for completing the trading game which involves you collecting an item at the beginning of the game and trading it with many other people throughout your quest and ending up with a new weapon which is fully deserved.

The main difference between this and Seasons is that it is more puzzle oriented and the time element leads to some interesting puzzles of going to the past and present versions of a dungeon. That is not to say that Ages doesn't skip on the action, indeed Ages' final boss fight is harder than Seasons'.

Graphically this game makes good use of the GBC colour by portraying the past and present versions of each area in different colours, e.g. the past version of Lynna village is very brown and dirty compared to the more modern looking version of Lynna city.

Sound wise the game is fairly good the sound effects of your sword and hitting enemys is as good as ever but the soundtrack itself isnt memorable.

The game is worth the money as it will take you quite a while to finish as some of the puzzles are tricky and the final boss fight is tough. You may as well buy Seasons as well as they are both so cheap now and you can experience the linked game feature which enables you to get new items and so forth.

This is classic zelda gaming at its best and does a great job of standing up with Links Awakening.
