A Great Re-Creation of a Timeless Classic....

User Rating: 9.4 | The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (Bonus Disc) GC
The Legend of Zelda series has been a great adventure throughout the years, and many great sequels have accompanied the first original game for the NES. The Legend of Zelda the Windwaker has been proven to be an epic game in the making, with an innovative sense of graphical style and integration. The bonus disc that came with some of the pre-orders of Windwakers had people going crazy. The Orcarina of Time, that was originally made for the N64 has been ported to the GC for the first time, with an alternate adventure never before released in America, called Master Quest. It was basically the same game, just different dungeons and so on. The port of the Orcarina of Time is greatly appreciated, but overlooked by some as a promotion. But here is my review of the timeless classic, The Legend of Zelda: The Orcarina of Time:

Graphics:
Being a port does have its disadvantages, but Nintendo makes sure that we arent all too disappointed. The environments are noticably different, and some of the textures are rounded off, making it less choppy and blocky as the original game. The character models are the same as the N64 title, but for its time, it was an epic in the making. Link looks great, whether him be as a boy, or man, and some of the other characters are designed well. This is a 64 title, so I'm not going to be too harsh. It does have some interesting features, as well as some nice facial expressions for its time.

Sound:
Ahh, the Legend of Zelda tunes. Classic. The orchestrated melodies and ryhthyms will have you humming all day long, even after you turned off the game. The sounds in the game are to be remembered as well. From the sound of Link slashing his sword at an enemy, to the sound of Epona galloping away accross Hyrule, you will be listening to every little detail this game offers.

Control:
The controls may confuse some at first. After all, this is a port, and some may be used to the N64 control scheme. But once you get used to it, you will be playing like a pro in no time. The movement and fighting system is the same as in the original, and will be just as enjoyable now, as it was then. The controls are tighter, and more responsive than having to press C-UP C-LEFT, and so on. Everything is at your disposal, and there will be no signs of cramping or numbing this time around.

Replay:
The two versions of the game offer a great quest and epic journey. The original game is really lengthy, and will last you weeks upon weeks. The Master Quest is the same as the original, but with the addition of new dungeons, even a pro a Zelda games will have to be aware of some of the new puzzles and enemies to encounter on the Master Quest.

Overall:
The Orcarina of Time was an instant classic on the N64, but it was overlooked on the GC as a port, and promotion. Although it was a port, it re-captured the feeling of the N64 epic adventure of a boy named Link set out to save the land of Hyrule, and a Princess in peril from an evil man out to dominate the world. The Legend of Zelda will live for generations to come, and this game is no exception as it was interpreted as a re-invention of a timeless adventure and should be missed by nobody that has a slight interest in the series.
