A Great Addition to the Legend of Zelda Series

User Rating: 9 | The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds 3DS

As a longtime fan of the Legend of Zelda series, I was excited to get my hands on Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds. It was worth the wait. The newest Zelda game takes place one hundred years after the events of A Link to the Past, the best SNES Zelda game. As usual, Link starts off as a lazy apprentice for the local blacksmith. He gets there late and has to take a sword to the Captain of the guard who went off to the Sanctuary

While there, the daughter of the priest gets turned into a painting by a mysterious and dangerous warlock called Yuga. This starts off another epic adventure for Link. The newest Zelda game is definitely one of the best games for the 3DS. It is also one of the best handheld Zelda games. There are several things that the game does brilliantly.

The graphics are colorful and look great in with the 3D effect on. The story is interesting and entertaining. Also, the remixes of music from A Link to the Past are amazing and bring back nostalgia for those who loved playing that Zelda game as a kid. There are also Easter eggs from other Zelda games like Majora's Mask hanging on the wall in Link's house.

The ability to turn into a wall painting is a cool thing to use. It makes puzzle solving in the game a lot of fun. It helps Link travel between Hyrule and Lorule. The new characters like Princess Hilda are interesting. The idea of having a dark version of Hyrule, Princess Zelda, and the Triforce is really interesting as well. A Link Between Worlds does something that is new and different besides a dark Hyrule and so on.

Players could now rent all of the classic Zelda items and weapons along with some new ones like the Tornado Rod and Sand Rod from a new character called Ravio. That's only if you let him stay at Link's house. If you get killed in a dungeon, Ravio's pet bird gathers all of the items that you rented from him. Now, I really didn't care for that idea much. The main reason why is I love finding classic Zelda items like the bow and arrow, boomerang, and so on in one of the dungeons.

Renting items can let players tackle dungeons out of order in the new Zelda game. Players can later buy all of those items from Ravio later on in the game. So it makes it easier for players not to worry about losing those items in case they are killed in a dungeon and don't have to travel back to Ravio's place to rent the items again. Other than that, A Link Between Worlds is now one of my favorite Zelda games besides Oracle of Ages/Season, Twilight Princess, Link's Awakening, Ocarina of Time, and Spirit Tracks. The game does a great job of creating nostalgia and yet create new memories. It has great graphics, music, and story. It was worth adding to my Legend of Zelda collection.
