A highly anticipated outclassed brawler.

User Rating: 6.5 | The King of Fighters XII PS3
THE STORY:

I bought this game from the release date knowing that this will get me off the BlazBlue fever temporarily. unfortunately this game is a disappointment for one of the fans of the fighting series. i should have bought other game instead.

THE REVIEW:

GRAPHICS: 7.0

The fighting game genre has upgraded to a very new twist that features robust enhancements on the pixels and sprites for traditional 2D style game. Besides, 2D since Street Fighter 2 Turbo makes our eyes drool for more animations. unfortunately for this game (as compared to other KOF Game) still retain the traditional 2D fighter with no further improvements.

SOUNDS: 5.0

The impact of the sounds is very repititve. As you cannot enjoy this game even on a 5.1 surround sound speaker. However as mentioned Traditional sounds are only bestowed within this Fighter. Overall the sound quality is not that impressive for this game.

GAMEPLAY: 6.5

Still with solid animation the King of Fighter genre still has something to say within this game. The ability to pull off different combo moves is still amazing and pulling of a Guard Counter making you feel more. But the entire Gameplay quite halts you when you choose at the roster of 24. quite disappointing for a "more than 10 years series". The small roster comprises of old timers like Terry, Robert, Kim among others but what is missing is those women of KOF series. simply put to say that there is no Mai Shiranui (unless she is downloadable) in this roster. Yup no Fan tossing boobies to play with, Maybe she is pregnant with Andy :) and other classic characters you have mastered for so long. Another Disappointing feature in this installment in the lack of game options to play with, simply put to say that there are no features such as Survival mode to other modes that made other Fighting game a hit. The Online feature of KOF XII appears to be consistent to quite laggy here in our country.

THE VERDICT:

A highly anticipated outclassed brawler as the title suggests for KOF Fans. Still check your bargain/sale bin in your area or to those second hand copies for trade for those players who are not satisfied in this game. The lack of characters disappoints you for this game and will let you wonder, What happened to the Majority of the Rosters. Blazblue is still that great 2D fighter yet to date.

THE PROS:
- New characters and new moveset to master.
- Still retains the classic look of KOF universe.
- moves are responsive to both button and arcade stick.

THE CONS:
- Character Rosters lacks classic fighters and the selection is limited to only 24 (plus downloadables if there is)
- Downloading an enormous 700 to 800 mb for this version just to play online.
- Sometimes fights are laggy online and will disappoint you when playing.
- Lack of other game options and contents that fighting games here in our generation has lot to for.

THE VERDICT:
If you are fan of the series then I would suggest that you still buy this game. i got this on my PS3 and still I will not trade this for ather mediocre games. Overall this brawler just speaks for itself while you play.
