Massive and Beautiful from 2011

User Rating: 9 | The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition XONE

I originally picked up ES 5: Skyrim for Xbox 360 a few years after release. Microsoft refused to make it backwards compatible for the Xbox One, maybe because they released the special edition specifically for it. Although annoying, I grabbed it at a massive discount ($12) and once quarantine lock-downs happened I powered through to the finish. I completed the Companions, Thieves Guild, Dark Bromance, Main quest, and hundreds of side quests. I even dabbled through building homes and the Dawnguard DLC. It took.... forever. But I have never been so surprised by the level of detail that was jam packed into the main game back in 2011.

For those who like:

  • Open world RPGs
  • Medieval fantasy realms
  • Dragons
  • Questing
  • Making your own moral decisions (completing some of the most fleshed out quest lines requires some questionable moral decisions).
  • Variety in style of play
  • Managing massive inventories
