Terminator Salvation is a Third Person Shooter on the Xbox360, Playstation 3 and PC.

User Rating: 8.5 | Terminator Salvation PC
Usually, a movie tie-in game is a mediocre representation of itself, and Terminator Slavation is no exeption... well, atleast that's what the official reviewers say...

Terminator Salvation is GRIN's second game (The first was Wanted : Weapons Of Fate - wich rocks).
Unlike Wanted : Weapons Of Fate, Terminator Salvation recieved mediocre reception and considered as a yet another bad movie tie-in.

I say streight-out : Terminator Salvation is an awsome TPS.
Sure, it's short. Sure, it does not have the best graphics.
But it has evolving characters, amazing music, terrific post-apocalyptic L.A. setting, and fun weapons!
Also, what idiot said that the game is boring?!

***STORY***

There is nothing much to say about the story.
It's set in the post-apocalyptic Los Angelos, 2 years before the events in the movie.
You play as John Conor, but when you are playing in Co-op Mode with a friend, you or he/she can play as John's friend - Blair.
John and Blair are in a hot war-zone. Just as they were going to evacuate, they find out that some of their teammates are strangled in Skynet's territory.
The story is somewhat predictable, but evolving characters make it up. What i mean is, without spoiling anything, some characters obviosly die, and i think there was about 2 or 3 times were i felt sad for the characters, since i didn't want them to die.
One serious problem is that the game is... 4... HOURS... LONG!
I heard that in the US the game costs 60 bucks. I know for a game that's 4 hours long, with no bonuses, and only 11 achivments (wich you can unlock on your first playthrough by just beating the game on Hard Mode), it's very exspensive. On the other hand, the econimical crisis could also be the cause.

***GRAPHICS***

OK, the graphics are not the best. Animations are not the best.
Character models and models of the machines are decent.
Some effects are actually quite badass. For isntance, the explosions coused by the rocket launcher, buildings coming apart, etc.
Lipsyinking is a tricky thing. When in cutscenes, if a characters face is closed up, the lypsinking is made bit-by-bit. But strangly enough, when the characters are āway"from the scene, it semes like the developers didn't even try to lypsink.

***SOUND***

Without a doubt, the best thing about Terminator Salvation!
This game stands out by some of the greates effects sounds (not as good as in F.E.A.R. or F.E.A.R. 2 Project Origin though), and also the best soundtrack in the series.
And even though the voice acting for some characters is, not nice, John Conors voice fits well, even though Cristian Bel didn't voice him.

***GAMEPLAY***

Terminator Salvation is a Third Person Shooter... That's the Gameplay.
You run, shoot, flank, and hide behind cover. That's what you do for the most of the game. It gets a bit repetetive, but it's forgiven with 4 breathtaking on-rail segments.
There are 5 weapons in the game : Assault Rifle, Shotgun, Minigun, Grenade Launcher and Rocket Launcher. You can carry 2 at a time.
There are 2 types of grenades - Frag Grenades and Pipe Bombs (not the same like in Left 4 Dead). If you want smooth controls, you should get the PC version, beacause in the console versions, annoyingly, you have to switch grenade types in the "inverntory", whle in the PC version, you can just simply press buttons 3 and 4.
There are 6 enemies in the game : Waps, T7T Spiders, Hunter Killers, T-600 Terminators, Skinjob Terminators (Teminators with rubber skin on themm similar to the first triology of the films), and Terminators on bikes. Each Terminator has a weakspot. You should eather flank it, blow it up or fight it face-to-face,
Enemies are intelligent. They will track you down, and shoot where you were while you are moving to the other side of the cover, and then flank it. There are cheap moments though, like a T-600 coming to you where you hid and then smacks you in the face with it's metal hand.
Your partners are also intelligent. They will flank your oponents, distract them, and even kill them completely while you are distracting the enemy, even though sometimes their "WinShot" can sometimes feel like a random "LuckyShot".
Unlike Wanted : Weapons Of Fate, Terminator Salvation dosen't have any bonuses or artwork, even when you beat it on Hard Mode. They could've atleast included a sneakpeak of the film.

***ENJOYMENT***

I love Terminator Salvation, like it or not, but i do.
It's a weak recomindation, but i would recomend a rental for a day or two.

One last thing : who said that the game has no sence of exitment?
Let me tell you something : bringing down the Wasps with the Shotgun is terrific, destroying the HK with the Rocket Launcher and seeing it spining in the sky is breathtaking, and destroying the T-600 with a Pipe-Bomb the first time is, Oh-So-Satisfying

Score - 8.5 - Great!
