And in the deepest, darkest corners of the earth, a child was born to a glorious forecoming. That child was Tekken.

All great things have a beginning. The game Tekken was the start of my favorite video game series in video game history. I remember playing this game when it came our. Oh what fond memories. This is a simple game with a simple story. All I remember doing in this game was fighting other people for basically no reason, but man was that cool.

Tekken sort of broke out in a world deprived of great playstation fighters. There was Mortal Kombat, but that held no ground in comparison. I know virtua fighter was out on the Sega, but I only played that game very little. The fighting mechanics on this game were unlike anything before presented. L punch, R punch, L kick, R kick...genious. I do commend Namco for making such a fun fighter.

Graphically, this game was quite good at the time. There were some games with perhaps better graphics, but this did well enough. The ending CG's were about as good as one may expect from this time, and the in-game character models weren't especially good or proportionate but got the job done.

The game's soundtrack was actually kind of weird to me. It didn't give that fighting mood you seek in a fighter. This is an area that has gotten better as the series continued, but this one isn't horrible. It is simply alright, a little better than moderate.

The game's core fighting mechanics gave this game something to be played a while for. I really didn't play this game very much by myself and would expect most people not to. I did like the characters Law and Jack at first, but now, I would much prefer Kazuya of Heihachi. Now, with the release of all the new Tekkens, there is little reason to play this game, but at the time it was released, it was awesome. I commend thee, Tekken, for thou wert, and art, and forever shall be a true light in the realm of fighters.
