Least favorite Tekken.

Tekken used to be my favorite series. I played Tekken 3 constantly, and Tekken Tag was my first ps2 game and it was crazy fun, but this game is just kinda...boring.

My favorite thing to do in the old Tekken games was beat the arcade mode with every character to unlock new characters, stories etc. In this game, all characters are already unlocked, which kind of takes away from the fun of that achievement, and to find out the story of each character and watch the cut scenes, which are usually really cool, you have to beat the Scenario Campaign mode.

This sucks because Scenario Campaign mode is very boring and repetitive. I still haven't made it through even one play through of it. It's basically the same as those other boring modes they through into the old games, the one with Jin running around kicking chickens, that you played once and were like wtf? Except now it's required.

My second favorite thing to do in the old Tekkens was kick all my friends asses, because none of them had the game and I had already beaten it like 30 times. lol I can't do this anymore because all my friends just play FPS. Of course I don't blame this on the makers of the game, but it is a bummer.

As far as online matches, they are rarely laggy, and you will get your ass kicked. There are some people who still very much love this game. For me, there are just so many characters and no motive to master one (in the old games I would learn the basics of every character because I had to beat the arcade mode with them to see their story and unlock the next character). So it's just kinda overwhelming, because I want to play with all the characters, but I can't be good unless I master one, and then I feel like I'm not even enjoying the full game.

Of course, it is still Tekken, so the graphics, gameplay, etc., are all top notch.

Maybe this review is unfair, and it's still a great game, and I've just lost interest in fighting games. If that's the case, and you think you'd still enjoy it I'm sure it's only $20-$30, and even with my semi-negative review, I'd say that's worth it.
Especially if you've got some friends who like fighting games to play it with you.
