The first video game based on the animated TV revival does what it's meant to do...

User Rating: 7.5 | Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles PS2
I always loved the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles", and their revival with a new (and if not better) animated series just brings in more fans along with the cult following. With the animated series' success, they did the right decision to make a video game. Of course video games from Television, Films, and other extensions are usually mediocre to just plain terrible, but this game does the series well.

Story: 7 (The story starts off in the intro in the animated series' introduction of Season One, it wasn't a bad season, but it's just decent)
Graphics: 7.5 (Some of the animation is close to match the animated series, while cut-scenes are either from the animated series and or made for this game, while other visuals are quite awful, but very brief)
Music: 8 (Music from the animated series, which is a good thing for those who are fans of the series, and the music is different at several parts, not revolving around mere repetition)
Controls: 8.5 (Controls simply meant for a mere beat em' up game, other than that the controls work well most of the time)
Sound: 8 (Voice work from the animated series do their part well, while everything else acts the same)

The story is primarily based on the first season of the animated series, and it is fairly accurate and simple, not a bad thing, but nothing special to be seen.

The game-play is similar to both a fighting game and a beat em' up-like game place together. In the story mode (all four turtles are playable, including two extra characters that require either cheat codes or requirements in the game), the game is like a beat em' up, because all that is necessary is basically defeat the enemies that show up, move on to the next screen, and repeat. While this isn't bad, the thrills of fighting more enemies can be fun, but the huge letdown is knowing what is going to happen next, maybe not the enemy, but the idea of constantly fighting until the end of the stage of the level.

For fans of the series, old and new, I recommend playing this game, or at least renting it, those who aren't should simply pass on this game.
