Its a solid beat em up based on the TMNT, which I followed religiously as a child. Too bad it's based of the new series.
Instead you have the Foot Ninjas (standard) Hun (big clumsy henchman) some horrible mutants that are just uninspired in my opinion.
Gameplay: Its a beat em up so dont expect much, X punches, O jumps, Square is a power move and L2 makes your turtle dash, R2 is an attack that knock your opponent into the air. The turtles all have thier unique weapons and all say horrible catch phrases, you have to hear them to believe how bad they could be.
The game isnt hard but at times can be cheap and frustrating. Some enemies (boss, mini boss) have cheap attacks, one enemy teleports back and forth whuile the Willy Wonka flute goes off. He unloads on you and you hardly have time to attack him. Also there are explosives all over the levels that are hard to avoid and just do too much damage, the explosive barrells will make you very mad.
The story follows the cartoon series and uses actual footage as filler to advance the story. One problem is that each stage has 5-6 parts and if you lose you have to redo the whole stage. Also only the 1st player can power up or upgrade his turtle, player 2 is out of luck. Plus once you start a game as say, Leonardo and turn the game off, then you come back later and say " I think I'll be Raph this time" too bad, you'll have to start a new game.
There is also a Versuz mode against the CPU and anotther User but this mode is sensless and boring.
All in all, I'm a 90's kid, I grew up on the original Ninja Turtles series, when April O'Neil was a news reporter, there was the Rat King and a Technodrone along with Krang. This game is a solid game but what holds it back for me is the fact that it's not the series I love, Splinter looks like an ant eater, the turtles look like they have steroids and no detail, The Shreddar is over the top and even has an alien in his stomach (like Krangs body). The Turtles characters arent the same, the voices are just awkward, I can go on. I like this game though, but like I said, its the show itself that ruins it for me.
