User Rating: 9.3 | Tales of Phantasia GBA
At long last the first chapter of the start of an amazing series has finally been given to the USA residents! Tales of Phantasia is everything it was told to be and really lives up to the expectations of the Tales series. here's the review:

Gameplay: Solid. That's all I can say. There are enough puzzles and dungeons to keep your brain going and going for hours on end. The story itself is brilliant. Maybe a tad bit overused but still fun. You get captured by this particular story so much that sometimes it's almost as if you're there. The famous battle system proves why the Tales series is so popular. The only downside is when the spell casters cast spells the close combat characters are stopped from attacking while the spell is cast, causing screw ups in some combos as well as hindering running away. The other downside to the battle system is that when you tell a spell caster character to use a different spell or use an item while they're in the middle of a spell they'll wait till they're done with the spell they're doing to do your orders or use the item which causes serious holes in battle stradegy when up against a boss and you need fast healing (unless you have Mint set to heal).
Above all, Gameplay is great. It's very easy to traverse around the world map and in towns/dungeons.

Graphics: Nothing awardwinning but the graphics are still good for a GBA game. The animations are very well done. and it's somewhat clear to see a little texture with some of the sprites.

Sound: Music is wonderful and gives you the same feel all the other Tales games give. The little snippets of voice acting isn't something interesting but still adds a little fun to the game to hear the characters. Plus this is an old game so certainly back in 1996 the voices were the best of their kind.

This game is a must buy for any hardcore fantasy and Tales fan. Gamers who have played Tales of Symphonia will point out the obvious similarities between these two games and the diehard ones like me will probably proclaim this to be somewhere in line with ToS (not a prequel nor a sequel.......ok maybe a sequel if you think REALLY hard on it but still). All-in-all this game is a great addition to any Tales collection and will certainly bring hours of enjoyment and mind boggling.
