Great atmosphere, unique story, normal point-and-click adventure
Syberia II does a great job following up the first game, so if you liked the original then you should like this one. The setting is unique, beautiful, and engrossing. Clockwork automatons are a great theme to explore. Couple that with a legendary island filled with ancient mammoths and you've got yourself a pretty unique setting to play around with.
This game suffers only a little from the three banes of this genre - monotonous pixel hunting, time-consuming go-fer runs, and illogical, frustrating puzzles. These things were present in only small amounts, but it was enough for me to consider bowing out at about the two-thirds point had I not been so engaged in the story. Keep in mind, this genre isn't my normal cuppa, so I have a low tolerance for these things.
If you liked Syberia, you'll like Syberia II. If you haven't played the first one, go back and play it so you'll have the first half of the story. As far as adventure games go, it's pretty good.
