Good but unpolished.

Here we have another example of corporate profits over quality product. Another 6 months in development would have really helped this game. I did like the idea of using the basic spider man 2 game model here; however not as much time was spent on bringing the city to life like in spidey 2. The buildings all looked pretty similar and there weren't too many noticable landmarks. Another thing you will quickly notice is the small number of citizens in Metropolis and the ones that are there look pretty bad. On the upside I thought this game was one kick a$$ superhero beat em up! If you don't like beat em ups then stay away from this game because aside from flying around you will spend 90% of the time kicking the living crap out of enemies Superman style! The controls were pretty good especially the flying; hoewever like with many beat em ups there are some quirks with the lock on. Where this game really shines is in the huge amount of authentic fighting moves that Superman has in his arsenal. Pretty much every move that Superman has ever executed in any movie or cartoon is in this game; my personal favorite is the 1000 punches move where he pounds the crap out of an enemy from all directions as fast as the speed of sound! The only downside to the fighting is that there isn't much variety; you pretty much only fight around 10 different types of enemies throughout the game; but this won't matter too much if you enjoy brawling. Another bright spot was the cool boss battles. I actually felt a slight panic when Metallo grew to the height of a skyscraper and came after me! The cut scenes and the music were also nicely done but I must admit I was pretty ticked off when I found that the real theme from the movie wasn't in the game. Just the theme alone would have made me enjoy the game ten times more.Ifeel EA had guts taking on this project since Superman is such a tough character to build a game on and I think they could have done alot worse. I consider this game a template for the next Superman game. With a bit more fine tuning and details the next Superman game could be the best superhero game ever.
