Big Money, Big Prizes, I Love it!

The 1990's was definitely a time of change for the video game industry. Coming out of the 8-bit era into the 16-bit era, video games were becoming capable of being able to show MORE items on screen, more ENEMIES on screen, more different weapon types on screen, and better graphics, sound/music, and control to go along with it! Not only that, but new ways to play games became available for players to try! For instance, this video game hypothesized what would become popular on TV in 1999; High stakes Reality TV game shows!!!! Surprisingly, Capcom PROVED to be not too far off (although the prospect of winning a new VCR started to lose its luster right around 1999). Although good on the NES, Game Boy, and the Game Gear, "Super Smash TV" proved to be even BETTER on the 16-bit systems! This game was unique, because players could either play WITH, or AGAINST a second player! That is, players would COMPETE for the prizes that would randomly appear on-screen, do their best to avoid enemy gunfire and traps, and do their best to come out on TOP against the four different bosses that tried to stop the red and blue guys! But what makes this game even MORE competitive, is the fact that players can CHOOSE, whether to turn 'friendly fire' on or off! That is, players can actually be HURT by another player ammunition if friendly fire is turned on! This approach would later inspire some OTHER games to do the same kind of thing, namely in "Donkey Kong Country II: Diddy Kong's Quest!" While not a long game, it has proven to be a very fun game! And a sequel is LONG overdue for "Super Smash TV!"
