A short, uninspired Metroidvania game.

User Rating: 5 | Sun Wukong VS Robot XONE

The Good:

- Sprites for the enemies, and bosses look really cool. Sun's sprite is...okay, but a bit messy as it doesn't really showcase any features to distinguish him as the main character in any special way.

-The music for the boss fights is really good. Each boss has a unique track that accompanied the fight and gave it some extra flair.

- The boss fights themselves were the best part of the game. Not only did each boss look completely different from the other (think Mega Man bosses) but they all had a different way you were supposed to tackle the fight.

- REALLY, REALLY EASY ACHIEVEMENT POINTS.

The Bad:

-The map is bad. Period. Metroidvania maps are essential to any good game but this one suffers. No indicator of areas visited (different color, or marked in any special way) and glaring omissions of basic necessities such as marking save rooms and power-pick up rooms.

-The music, outside of the boss rooms was sometimes nonexistent, literally. It makes for a boring adventure when you're running through corridors in complete silence. These 'retro' Metroidvania's are geared towards having excellent soundtracks without the need for a huge orchestral score, but this game doesn't come close.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

If you can find this game cheap (I believe it's only $5 to begin with) then give it a shot, to at least experience the boss fights, and pick up a really easy 1000G along the way, but don't go into it expecting anything grand...or great for that matter. You can finish it up in about 2-3 hours, and that's the perfect amount of time needed to experience everything.
