A decent Star Wars game that had a huge amount of potential!

Star Wars: Apprentice of the Force is a good game, but not great. It had a lot of potential though! The main complaint I had was that it was just a bit too short. The basic concept of the game is that you play as Luke Skywalker and work your way through the entire 3 episodes that make up the original Star Wars trilogy. Episode IV contains 4 levels, Episode V has 3, and Episode VI has 6 levels. The graphics I rate somewhere between average and above average and the gameplay is pretty good. The only complaint I had with the gameplay had to do with the jumping. Sometimes when you are trying to make a high jump and grab a ledge Luke misses, and I don’t know why! As soon as you get used to this though, you are prepared to miss when you go in to a sequence of jumping and are ready to deal with those missed jumps. The levels themselves I found to be anywhere between short and super long. The good thing about them was the diversity between the levels. The majority of them just feature Luke walking to the right and making his way through the level. However, there are 2 vehicle levels that I thought were really well done. There are also a couple of levels where the screen constantly scrolls along and you have to figure out the right way to navigate through the level or you get cut off by the screen and die. And during some of the regular levels you even have some alternative objectives to complete, like protecting Princess Leia or R2-D2. There are a few bosses during the game as well including the Rancor, Boba Fett and Darth Vader. The other neat thing about the game is that as Luke progresses through the levels he receives training from both Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda. They teach him 8 different skills, four physical skills including sprinting and rolling, and four Force skills including double jumping and Force push. Being able to use all of these skills throughout the rest of the game really make it a lot more fun! Overall I would say this is a good game that doesn’t have any real negatives besides being too short. If they could have included just a few more levels it would have made this game leagues better!
