God of War meets Star Wars is a good way to sum up this slightly underrated title.

TFU is, at it's heart, a God of War ripoff. Unfortunately, it doesn't do a very good job of ripping off the vastly superior game play mechanics of GoW. GoW has a semi-fixed camera that is zoomed out for most of the action so you can see the enemies coming at you from all directions while mashing the buttons, TFU keeps the camera in close and forces you to pan it while mashing buttons and moving at the same time, giving you the need to have three hands to really play it the way you'd want to.

On top of that, TFU emphasizes a lot of ranged attacks (Force Lightning, Force Grip, Force Throw, etc). GoW uses ranged attacks rarely and when it does, it's easy to see what you're targeting and cycle through targets. There aren't many targets to cycle through in those situations either. In TFU, you have no way to cycle targets other than to change the direction your character is facing. Add to that, the fact that you can target virtually every single box, crate, and sometimes even stuff on the walls between you and the enemy you're really trying to target and it can get a bit tedious. At one point, you're having to fight waves of Tie Fighters and are forced to dwell on this poor system for an extended period.

The PC version of TFU is also plagued with a handful of bugs that aren't likely to ever be fixed. A number of times the game crashed to the desktop unexpectedly and there's a rather nasty bug in the last two levels that causes a large number of the sounds to be missing, fortunately fans on the Steam forums have a patch for the sound issue.

Despite those flaws, I found TFU to be mostly enjoyable. It has a good story that fits in between Episodes III and IV and gives you the guilty satisfaction of swatting tie fighters like mosquitoes and throwing storm troopers around like rag dolls. With the Ultimate Sith Edition, you also get three DLC missions for free, which were oddly more satisfying to play in some ways than the main title.
