One of the best games ever made for the Gamecube.

User Rating: 9 | Star Wars Rogue Leader: Rogue Squadron II GC
THE GOOD

- The gameplay is extremely satisfying. From blowing up TIE fighters, to tripping up AT-AT's, you'll have a blast. It's fairly difficult also, as was Rogue Squadron for the 64, especially in the later levels. More and more often you're going to find yourself swarmed by countless enemies, and more and more you're going to get frustrated because that little ship you're trying to hit won't stay in your sights so you can blow it away. The controls are also excellent, you can fire your lasers in a nice barrage by holding down the A button, and fire your secondary weapon using the B button. One of the most important moves is the boost, which can be used by pressing the R button. Using this constantly helps you avoid laser fire and lose any bad guys on your tail. Be warned though: levels that include the slow as a snail Y-Wing are a nightmare the first few times around, because they can't boost!

- The graphics are simply amazing. Everything looks exactly like it does in the movies, from the X-Wing to the Death Star. You'll be sitting there wondering how they were able to get everything down so perfectly, right down to the chipped paint on some of the ships. There's not much to say here, just watch and enjoy.

- The sound. As with the graphics, everything sounds just like it does in the movies, the lasers, the sounds the ships make as they soar across space. The music should also get a mention, there's some pretty epic songs playing while you're shooting baddies.

- Perhaps the one thing that makes this game so good is the attention paid to details. Get up close to a Star Destroyer, and look at the features you can see on it, metal parts, turbor-lasers. Look down at the ground on Hoth, you'll see stormtroopers running around. Listen and look at the near-perfect reenactments of famous scenes from the movies. I could tell there was a lot of hardwork gone into this game

Alas, it's not perfect.

THE BAD

- The game is relatively short. Some of the levels get challenging but it's unlikely that you'll be stuck on any of them for very long. Not to mention there's only 10 main levels, but it makes up for it by providing some interesting secret levels which include playing as Darth Vader and training on Tatooine. Still, the game ends too soon and you'll be longing for more.

- Some of the voice acting is....well, not that good. Don't get me wrong, Wedge sounds calm and buisness like (he's voiced by the guy who played him in the orginal trilogy), Luke sounds like Luke, etc. But Lando Calrissian sounds like he's in a rush or as if the voice actor was in a hurry. Admiral Ackbar sounds nothing like should, and it's actually a little hard to understand what's he saying. Other than that though the voice acting is solid.
