If you like Star Wars and racing, this game is for you!

User Rating: 8.5 | Star Wars Episode I: Racer N64
If you were in to the pod racing scene from episode one, then you should definitely check this game out. The graphics are great in this game, thanks to the support of the extra RAM in the N64 memory expansion pack. The resolutions are great and everything looks clean and crisp. The sound in this game is also noteworthy as it has all of the themes and music you would expect from a Star Wars game. The sounds of the pod racers themselves are right on cue with the movie. The voice acting is really good for this game… but then again, there are a lot of alien languages that some people wouldn’t notice if they were off. All in all, the sound in this game is right on par with the graphics. The game play is fun and exciting. You get a good sense of speed when zooming down narrow causeways at 700+ MPH. There are three modes of play in this game, Single player, free play, and time trial. The free play mode serves as practice and time trial lets you set record times on all courses. The single player mode lets you choose your racer, either Anakin or any other alien racers, to compete in the circuit races. Winning races in circuits earns you credits which are used to buy pit droids, and parts and upgrades for your pod, either from Watto’s shop or the junkyard out back. Also, other racers can be unlocked by winning races and circuits, including Sebulba himself. In the end, this game is a classic Star Wars game, even though it is totally focused on racing. I would recommend this game to any one who enjoys Star Wars, racing, or even just fans of the pod racing scene from Star Wars: Episode 1.
