Though definitely worth a purchase to Star Wars fans, Bounty Hunter might not be the game for other gamers.

As a huge Star Wars fan, I definitely wanted to get this game when it released. I mean, playing as jango Fett... what else do you need? Unfortunatelym though I enjoyed the experience, I learned that an amazing license and a cool character are not quite enough to make a great game. Getting the weaknesses out of the way, the first thing to mention is the gameplay. The gameplay in Bounty Hunter is by no means horrible, it's just not quite as refined as most of us are used to. The lock-on system works well (using two blaster pistols rocks), but the gameplay gets a little tired after a while. Though you will never fall short of new challenges, the combat eventually shows itself for what it really is: lock on, dodge, and shoot. Rinse and repeat. Not to mention the random addition of a few long, laborous, and ridiculously hard levels (both being on Tatooine). The lukewarm things start with the graphics. Though they are smooth and good-looking (with an impressive framerate and a complete lack of slowdown on the 'Cube version), some of the environments and character models are a little simplistic and repetitive, though there are a god amount of both, and they look good, effectively differentiating each planet from the others. The sound effects, voice-overs (more about those later), and the soundtrack are all great. John William's classic music never gets old. Ever. And the blaster sounds and other Star Wars effects sound as good as ever. The high point of Bounty Hunter is the storyline. Basically, this game tells the story of how Jango became the subject for the building of the clone army, how he got Slave 1, and his meeting up with Zam. With a lot of well-done twists presented in very impressive cutscenes (with exellent voice-overs, including jango's being voiced by the actor from the movies), the story never fails to impress (Star Wars fans will have more than a few "I get it! That's amazing!" moments). All around, Bounty Hunter is a mixed bag. If you're a Star Wars fan, this would definitely be a wise purchase: if not, however, you may be turned off by the unpolished gameplay and overall average presentation. Not to mention those moments of realization will fly right over your head. My reccommendation: watch all the Star Wars movies, love those pieces of awesomeness, then play this game. It will be worth it.
