The very first game I ever played on a pc - my friend's 33mhz 486 back in the day. I had to have it for myself. There were of course OTHER reasons to own a pc, (Castles II, Ultima, etc) And I convinced my grandparents it would greatly help with schoolwork. hehe. You play the role of a starship captain who must save the universe from a tyrannical alien race who have been dominating the galaxy. Travel to HUNDREDS of planets within scores of star systems scavenging for resources. Customize your flagship with a huge amount of possible upgrades, expand your fleet with the addittion of ships from aliens you build alliances with and destroy the alien race who has enslaved your homeworld while you were away on a science mission. The story is very entertaining and the gameplay very addictive. If you got a soft sport for the old school of gamin, and can get past the dated graphics and game mechanics, then you will surely enjoy this experience. I have tried to get back into a large number of games from back in the day, and most are entertaining for a short while for nostalgic reasons. This game is different. I have beaten it a HUGE number of times. And recently. In fact I'm playing it currently thanx to a re-code of the 3DO port available for free download here http://sc2.sourceforge.net/
