The game perfectly mixes the aspects of a racing game and an extreme sport

User Rating: 9.4 | SSX PS2
Me, being a snowboarder in my free time, it is easy for me to say that this game gets unrealistic, Tony Hawk's style, where it just isnt possible to do these triple backflip/1080 combos, but regardless, this is what makes the game more fun and takes it to the next level. This game is unique, in the fashion that the trick points you gain directly relate to how fast you go in the race and are important. This, also being unrealistic, creates a unique enviornment that is clearly for the better.

Gameplay: Amazing gameplay way head of its time, jam packed with various secrets and techniques. This game really requires mastering as the computer can get quite good in the later levels. Everytime, when I play, that I encounter a ramp, my heart skips a beat when I am trying to think of the mind-boggling trick Im about to throw. Each and every trick you pull off brings a new sensation and it allows for the game now to get old, especially with all the air you get on some jumps.

Graphics: This game was released back in 2000 and it can still compete with some of the PS2 release games now, this tells you how much time and dedication was put into this game. The powder snow, the surrondings... brilliant.

Sound: The guy commentates your preformance which is fun. Its different though because it is not a sports game and he does not annonce everything that happens but he does do enough to make it fun. Also, sense he doesnt talk as much, you dont hear the same clip phrases over and over again.

Value: The game has a lot of sedimental value sense the SSX has gone far and will likely go further. Amped competes with the SSX series but in my opinion, and in the eyes of many others, the games just arent on the same level, with SSX being the game that is much more fun to play.

Reviewer's Tilt: I was shocked to find the gamer's reviews so low, as I though this game was going to be a legitament 9, but Gamespot saw it the way I did and really appreciated the game.

Recommendaiton: It still, being in 2006, is not too late to buy this game as it is "uber" fun. I would still break this game out and play it if I still had my PS2, make sme think of how much I miss it.
