Id expect a Spyro GBA spinoff to be like a Spyro PS game. And it is. At the same time it isnt.

A friend let me borrow this game yesterday. I only played it once, and thats all I need to play it for. The gameplay is a lot like Spyro games. The new format anyway (the one where you approach the annoying NPCs and they prattle on and on). Its basically Spyro, 2D and awkward. While playing it, I lost Spark, the dragonfly. And it became hard. I only lost him because one of the rock throwing Gnorcs kept pounding me, and when I tried to get away hed throw another rock at me and it would hit me. Thats ridiculous. He throws the rock and it hits me dead on. Even though I moved out of the way. HUH? And wait... I didnt go anywhere hear the freakin water, howd I die? Plus if you lose Spark, thats it. You can get him back but finding the jar hes trapped in to do so is almost impossible.

The graphics are good. The levels remind me of a barren sort of Spyro game. But a Spyro game nonetheless. But the levels seem to stretch on and on so that you can get lost easily even if you know where your supposed to go.

The sound varies from level to level. The music is that sort of fantasy mood just like the console versions. The other sounds seem to be taken from the console versions though: Spark retrieving gems, the flames, the running, the Gnorcs.

Id probably buy this game if I were a tru fan of the Spyro series. But I only played the first one and a demo to the second. This game is more for a child to play. If youre almost 20 like me, its not gonna be impressive for long. BUt if I did buy it when it first came out, Id probably still have it.
