A Hero's Tail doesn't come close to any of Spyro's original adventures on the PS1, however, this game is a huge improvement from the mess that was Enter the Dragonfly. The storyline is pretty average - a dragon elder named Red returns from banishment and poisons the dragon realms with dark gems which Spyro must find & destroy. It was nice to see Gnasty Gnorc reappear for the first time since the very first Spyro game, but other reoccurring characters are more irritating than anything. SGT Byrd is back with a bunch of awful mini games which are difficult to the point of being boring which distract from the game and have no real relevance. The Blink & Sparx mini games are equally as awful, but Hunter's couple of levels are enjoyable. This is a visually stunning game for the PS2 and a must play for any Spyro fan, but it still doesn't manage to capture the magic of the original trilogy.
