Cursed Memoir may have the Camera, ghosts, and a haunted house, but over all it's lacking the scary atmosphere.

While it is neat to bring the ghosts into my living room it sort of defeats the purpose of a handheld console, I would like to stay in bed and move the minimum with the security of my blankets to protect me from the big bad ghosts who are waiting to get me. With this game I have to be in a room with plenty of space to move and a spotlight. Not only does the lack of light affect the weak camera but also if a finger is in the way it throws it off. Speaking of the book, put a ball and chain on that thing, if it's damaged, dirtied, or lost you'll be in a tight spot but not totally helpless because scans (Link will be at the bottom) work just was well and better even since you wont have to worry about light but while before you only had to care the book around now you'll need a laptop or E-reader with you in order to play. Cursed Memoir may have the Spirit Camera, ghosts, and a haunted house, over all it's lacking the scary Fatal Frame atmosphere that makes you pee your pants when turning a corner only to find there is nothing there and that warm comfort is now cold wet shame soon to be repeated in a few minutes and yet you love it still. The only times it grasps some of the Fatal Frame vibe is when you are transported into the house and it's pretty damn cool to spin in place and see it form different angles as you walking on those loose floor boards while eyeing the traditional Japanese doll on the dresser because you know it's going to fall off and scare the wet pants off you. The trips into the house don't lasts as long as they should and once again you're back in your own home fighting some masked kid trying to steal your 3DS, while I love the feeling of practically holding the real Spirit Camera somehow battling ghosts does not seem as hopeless if i can see my sister's dirty pile of laundry in the corner behind it. It's safe to say the awe of them being in your room wears off quickly. I'm a Fatal Frame junkie so I will gladly over look the flaws just to get me a fix especially since certain people never brought us Mask of The Lunar Eclipse cough cough. I haven't finished the game yet though I doubt there will be much more to wow me. I'm mostly disappointed that I cannot create the perfect environment to play Fatal Frame by turning off all the lights and burying myself in pillows cuz we just now ghosts don't stand a chance against pillows.
