Not good as a retro-romp, Spelunker doesn't hold up well in gameplay or nostalgia.

User Rating: 3.6 | Spelunker NES
I picked up a copy of this game as part of an Ebay auction when I purchased my NES. I know of its previous Commodore existence, and thought it might be good even as a quickie retro-romp. Not so. The gameplay is stiffer than a stack of firewood. I died several times trying to make a simple jump from a rope or elevator. I know I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer, and I may have six thumbs but the player control was clunky at best. The music is bad if not inaudible, and the graphics are not up to the par of some of the better NES games. I realize this is a port of an old game, but when you compare this game to some of its contemporaries, the score is justified.
