Bring the classic beat em up formula to SoulCalibur!

User Rating: 5 | SoulCalibur Legends WII
I'll admit I actually don't think this game is all that bad. Still based on my score it's definitely not a good game. The thing is though is that I like beat em up games and I have so many on the Wii I've become a beat em up master. Games like MadWorld, No More Heroes, One Piece Unlimited Adventure, Rygar, and the werehog sections of Sonic Unleashed are just a few examples of some things I liked. Now I know most were disappointed that it wasn't a fighting SoulCalibur game, but I think it does what it needed to. It's a beat em up. If you go into this expecting more then you'll be very disappointed. There are some good things to this game. First are the 8 characters you'll get to play as and that's a good thing if you get tired of using Siegfried over and over again. One of the more odd choices of characters the game throws at you is Lloyd Irving from Tales of Symphonia...I'll tell you I didn't see that coming. The weapons are good and varied and you can also level them up to become more powerful. However this game is a beat em up and it gets tiresome quickly. You go from point a to b slashing monsters, solving all too easy puzzles, and jumping awkwardly around...Mario this game isn't. The story in itself is rather bland and the boss fights get recycled. In all I didn't like this game, but I never hated it. It's a mindless beat em up you'll finish in a weekend. So if you have nothing better to do at least pick it up as a rental.
