Soul Reaver 2 is, without a doubt, a feast for the eyes, a challenge for the brain, and an obsession for the heart...

User Rating: 10 | Soul Reaver 2 PS2
Soul Reaver 2 picks up from where the original Soul Reaver game left off...only this time, as it is a PS2 version, you enter an even more visually dazzling world of Raziel, only to find out as you progress through the game, that things are not always what the seem to appear...

This game in the Legacy of Kain series offers many more opportunities to fight various enemies, solve mysterious puzzles and encounter new worlds, as Raziel continues his pursuit of Kain, who is constantly accused of putting Raziels' life into turmoil. But are these allegations true, and does the time meddler Mobius appear to be as helpful and docile as he tries to make out??? Who else has a part to play in Raziels' affairs??? You will learn more about this as you progress through the game!!!

My favourite thing about this game (despite the fact that you have to re-visit a few areas of the game time and time again) is the visual graphics, bearing in mind it was still early days of the PS2, and about a year had passed when Soul Reaver 2 was released. Some if the levels are so georgously created, that you almost get distracted by the visual beauty surrounding Raziel. The music is very good, which gives you that gothic tingle down your spine. And of course, all of the characters' facial movements, gestures and actions are very precisly created. The voice talents are well selected, and my personl favourite is Simon Templeman, who speaks for Kain.

Unlike Soul Reaver, SR2 has a map and compass that you can use, so that you know where you are heading and which direction you need to take. Raziel has already acquired abilities such as climbing walls, and pahsing through gates, but the only enhancemnts you can acquire this time round are variants of the wraith balde soul reaver, Raziels' personal weapon.

Overall this is a very good game with a heart-rendering storyline, although if they would have added some more levels to make a bigger game, then that would have been the icing on the cake. But, as they say, best things last for short periods, so I would say this was a short but sweet adventure for me. This is a must have for those who have played Soul Reaver 1, or are into the typical hack and slash and/or puzzle solving adventures of epic proportions!!!
