Sonic using a skateboard? Whats next? Card games on motorcycles?

The idea of Sonic in a car already seems absurd. It just seems strange enough that a hedgehog can run up to 3000 mph. So what will a skateboard do? Well SEGA showed us what Sonic and a skateboard can do with Sonic Riders. And it works pretty well if you ask me.

The story takes place in the future where Sonic spends his nights using a "hoverboard" Hm. Guess this is 2015 ;) Suddenly, mysterious riders are being chased by the cops. Sonic chases after these fiends but is easily defeated by their impressive skill. Finding out that a tournament is being hosted by Eggman, Sonic enters in hopes of crushing Eggman's attempt at whatever he's doing. Also finding out that Jet the Hawk, the fiend that beat Sonic, is also in the tournament, Sonic is determined to win and show Jet who the king of speed really is.

Pros: Surprisingly fun gameplay, Nice techno music, Large selection of tracks and boards, Very cool hand drawn art

Cons: Graphics could be better, Not enough characters, Losing air is annoying, A.I can be cheap

Sonic Riders takes our blue pal in another direction and takes the sky (sort of). If you have an open mind for Sonic and if you love the future, you'll love Sonic Riders. The tracks are well made. The boards all feel different. This is a pretty mixed game actually. Don't listen to someones bad opinion unless you try it for yourself.
