Sonic Team finally makes a fully brand new 3D Sonic game. Sadly, it doesn't really have the old, "Sonic Adventure" feel.

Gameplay: Sonic Heroes is a different game then Sonic Adventure 1 or 2. This time, Sonic Team has gone classic. This time, you have to go through 14 levels with 4 teams of Sonic characters. Each team member is useful for a certain area of the stage. So you'll need to depend on the member. Sonic Team has made the stages 3 times bigger then the stages shown in Sonic Adventure 2. But they don't have much elements found in the Adventure games. Instead, we get a game where you're on teams and it takes out the ture spirit about Sonic Games, Speed. You will have to stop a lot of times to defeat enemys, or clear certain course areas. It's also hard to control some characters. For example, When you are running and want to stop, the breaks are horrible. Sometimes, you'll end up falling off an edge. The boss battles are sometimes actually interesting, but some of the battles are un-Sonic-like. Sonic Team, overall, tries to give us something new, but in a few ways, it hurts the Sonic games. Still, if you overlook Sonic Heroes' problems, then it's a solid platformer worth renting or trying out. Graphics: The graphics are pretty colorful, but the details lack high-res textures seen on most Gamecube games. In a few ways, Sonic Heroes looks like a powered up Dreamcast game. The textures could have had a big jump since Sonic Adventure 2, but Sonic Team didn't try hard enough. Also, when I saw some 2P mode mini games, framerate was running at 20 FPS! It made the mini games look slow compared to the main game. Sonic Team could have done a better job with the graphics. Fair textures and minor frame rate problems aside, Sonic Heroes does feature some huge enviorments and imaginitive levels that will sure interest anyone. Sound: The music in the game isn't as jammin' like the Sonic Adventure games had. There are only a few good songs that I enjoyed. The Voice acting from the Adventure series remains good, But Tails' new voice and Charmy's voice are totally out-of-character. Tails and Charmy talk and act a lot younger then their age. Cream's voice is also worth mentioning, in terms of her off tuned voice. The sound effects are mostly reused from other Sonic games, which is alright. So basically, the soundwork in Sonic Heroes is not as strong as Sonic Adventure 1 and 2. Conclusion: There are a few interesting aspects in this game, but they were so limted. But they were good enough to keep me playing it every now and then. Being a Sonic fan, i thought it was gonna be a tight game. Instead i get a game that's challenging, and has a couple flaws. This game is a good rental, so rent the game first, and then think on how it is. Personally, i thought the game was pretty good, but it could have been better then I thought. Pros: -Nice boss battles -Colorful stages Cons: -Does not have any Sonic Adventure feel at all -Not as strong Sonic Soundtrack -At times, the voices aren't too good -The game, across all 3 platforms, looks like a powered up Dreamcast game
