Sonic 3D Blast for the Saturn is the best version compared to the Genesis and PC versions. It's still far from perfect.

User Rating: 7.4 | Sonic 3D: Flickies' Island SAT
Gameplay: Sonic 3D Blast pretty much plays like it did on the Genesis and PC. In Sonic 3D Blast, you roam around in an Isometric point of view, to give this game an RPG feel, even though it doesn't really. You spend most of the time searching around stages destroying enemies that contain Flickies. You have to collect all the Flickies in order to complete the stage. This type of Gameplay can be sometimes annoying, but don't let that stop you. The main difference between the Saturn version compared to the Genesis and PC versions, is the Special Stage. It is basically a redeveloped Sonic the Hedgehog 2 style Special Stage, except in complete 3D. These special stages are pretty entertaining to last you a while. There are a total of 7 zones with 3 Acts. The first 2 acts are action stages, while the last act is the boss stage against Dr. Robotnik. The game is fairly easy to complete, so the gameplay in Sonic 3D Blast is not really well compared to the classic Sonic games. Still, Sonic 3D Blast does have a few moments. Graphics: The Graphics in the Saturn version of Sonic 3D Blast are exactly like the PC version, except for the special stages. Sonic 3D Blast on the Saturn is the best looking version. The 2D Graphics are amazing. Colorful textures, weather effects, and added animations make Sonic 3D Blast a great looking 2D Saturn game. The Special Stage 3D Graphics are pretty good, but nothing spectacular. Sound: I'm easily impressed with the soundwork in Sonic 3D Blast. The music is composed by Richard Jacques. He did a great job on the songs. I often listen to the music in Sonic 3D Blast for the heck of it. The sound effects are crisp and crystal clear. Overall, Sonic 3D Blast for the Saturn has the most impressive soundwork. Conclusion: Sonic 3D Blast may not be like the Genesis classics, but it’s still a pretty addictive game to Sonic fans. Sonic 3D Blast for the Saturn is better then the Genesis version in looks, gameplay, and soundwork. This game is easy to beat, and there isn't too much replay value involved in Sonic 3D Blast on any version. This game is worth trying, but the game certainly isn't a must-have.
