Fun game, good controls, nice music but easy to put down

User Rating: 7.5 | Skate It DS
Though I have never played any skater game before (No, not even a Tony Hawk!) I can't compare it to anything already out there. But I do like it, a lot.

First the Good:
To advance in you career as a trying-to-become-a-pro Skater you start doing some basic tricks and continue to learn more advanced moves through several mini games that are fun and (for me anyways) challenging. These mini games include things such as races, landing a specific line of tricks, and games of S.K.A.T.E. (a mate landing a trick and you have to copy it - and vice versa. Get it wrong, and you get a letter).

Continue to advance in your career and you'll get to go skate with the big names (I assume, as I have nothing with the sport and the only names I know are Hawk and Scheckler :p) and... you get to go abroad! Woohoo!

Though lots of fun, the "story" of your career isn't so entertaining this game is hard to put down (like say, any Zelda game) but that's a plus to me as I don't always feel like playing for hours on end.

A little less good:
Though the game's four songs are good background music, it gets somewhat repetitive (like in the Need For Speed games).

Also I found the female characteristics (faces, hairstyles, clothes) to choose from hardly distinguishable from the male ones. Basically, any girl players look like boys with boobs - not that there's anything wrong with that but still, it would have been nice to have at least ONE choice of long hair! (I know long hair is bouncy and prob left out because it would be hard to make 'realistic').

All in all: a good, fun game to play!
