This game has got it all. Great story backdrop, terrific music, excellent voice acting and very nice graphics. If you've played any kind of RTS game I don't believe you'll be disappointed with this one. The view system is fantastic. You can quickly scroll from an overall galactic view right down to an individual ship, and all in 3D. My one complaint would be that it would be nice to have a single player campaign in addition to the various small, medium and large maps for an instant battle. The Pirate raids are an interesting twist to the game but can get annoying especially when you are first learning the game. I would advise you turn them off for your first few early "get to know the game" rounds. For a quick game play tip, don't go crazy loading up on capital ships like I did. You can easily win in 'normal' mode with 2 capital ships supported by 10-15 frigates. Between the many various ship types and all the research that can be done the game is very deep, but not so deep that it's difficult to learn. With battles raging across multiple planets you spend as much time fighting as you do building so the game play has a nice balance. It never slows down.
