great free MMO with lots to explore!

User Rating: 9 | Silkroad Online PC
After about 980 hours in-game, I chose to review this game, incase I have not written one. Silk Road Online was the 3rd MMO I had played at the time. Since then I've played many other free, and paid MMO's. One game stayed in my mind more than all the others, and that game is Silk Road Online.

Over the years from it's humble beginning Silk Road has provided the substance to stick out from many other online MMO's. The vast ammount of quests, intersting character classes, imbueing system, NPC's and creative monsters make this game great.

The game is simple enough, that someone like myself who had never really tried an MMO at the time can catch on, and complicated enough that once mastered, you can still find many challenges in the form of crafting, dungeons, and Caravans.

Perhaps the best part of this game is teaming up with friends and doing caravans. Trading items between towns along the old Silk Road Trails. This is probably the funnest part of the game, imo, aside from dungeons & bosses.

Perhaps one of my favorite aspects of the game are the mounts. You get horses to help you get around faster, the caravan camels are amusing. Silk Road also has a vast array of cute, cuddly pets, as well as some not so cuddly ones that help you battle mobs. Of all other MMO's I've played, this one really makes you feel as though your pet is a pet. You raise a wolfpup from a puppy, and raise it into a full grown wolf, for example. they also have cute interactions and animations.

There are many boss mobs to fight as well. It IS a Korean style MMO, so as with any other: expect lots of grinding! quests are rewarding though, and throughout the years Silk Road has updated It's graphics as well as added new classes and upping the level limits, and unlocking new areas to explore. This is a great starter MMO, as well as an enjoyable one for MMO vets looking for something new. The price can't be beat: FREE!
