A horror game unlike any other that sucks you in and doesn't intend to spit you back out.

User Rating: 8.5 | Silent Hill PS
Konami's first installment to the Survival-Horror genre was like any other at the time. Resident Evil was the main focus of attention in this genre but Konami took it to a new level.
It didn't contain zombies and a straight forward storyline but instead left you guessing with its unexplainable enemies and a mind-bending storyline. The game starts with the sudden disappearance of Harry Mason's daughter Cheryl upon arriving at a town called Silent Hill. Immediately you find yourself surrounded in a large foggy, dull environment with no idea where to go. Your first contact with other human life is immediate in a diner with a police office named Cybil. Harry tries to explain the disappearance of his daughter but is left with no answers and finds himself on his own again on the pursuit to find Cheryl.
This game does a great job of making you feel confused, lost, uneasy and alone, into the mind of Harry. The use of the thick fog, dark environments, unexplainable enemies & occurrences, odd puzzles, unsure storyline and little human interaction really helps to set these moods. As you progress through the game you find yourself going into 'another world' often where things become very unreal, dark, twisted and very dangerous. Harry mentions that it seems like a dream, like he's not really there, but is. He goes back and forth between these 'realities' so often that he becomes unsure of what or anything is real anymore, which really makes you think.
If you like Survival Horror games you cannot miss out on this one. It really is true to the genre in every way and is like no other series out there.
Bravo Konami !
