Persona 4 is the best in the current SMT spinoff series

User Rating: 9 | Persona 4 PS2
After playing Persona 3 FES, I was a bit burned out from playing another JRPG, more so an SMT, and a persona game even. However, after playing through persona 3, I wanted to experience the SMT universe again, and I still had P4 as a backlog so I went ahead and started playing it.

I was not disappointed with P4, it was an upgrade from 3 definitely. I am a fan of 3's tartarus dungeon because you had a limit on how far you could go up in correlation to where you are in the story.

P4's social links are a bit more forgiving the 3's, and if you use a guide to get a max social link in one playthrough, it is possible with a one month buffer if you ever do mistakes, where in contrast 3 had a very strict max social link guide to follow to the letter.

Story wise, the game is a typical high school fanfare, with the protagonist dealing with their fictional high school drama and brouhaha while juggling several girls (if you opt to, I did, hahaha).

Persona wise (or demons in the core series), have the same personas while also acquiring a dozen or so newer/older personas that weren't in the third game.

In conclusion, this is a great JRPG, Persona 4 is a must play for all ps2 JRPG fans.

PROTIPS: You can use the item goto-d or the persona skill traesto to leave a dungeon. You can return to the highest floor you last attained to as well, so use that to your advantage. Try to max the hermit fox social link as well so you can recharge SP for a price.
