there is a story. it is not hystorically accurate, but the story is there, ready to be told, and it is a pretty good story too! not the best one i've ever seen, not a masterpiece, but still, a real good story, and that's really something for this kind of game.
you'll be able to use the big roman soldier agrippa, and the small nephew of julius cesar, octavian cesar. whit the former you'll fight ords of anything, from tigers to elephants, from rogues to midgets, and tons of barbarians and slaves in the middle. with the latter you'll play an hide-and-strike-them-down game, at some points pretty similar to metal gear solid 2.

the graphics' pretty good, expecially counting how long this game has been around... blood, arms, heads and everything will start wetting your tv in no time. sounds are not annoyng and the speaking voices are pretty good. nothing exepional, but still, a good result.

the hardest thing to describe is the gameplay. it may take you no time to play it, but it will take you some long time to play it good. you can do a lot of stuff in here, like cutting someone's arm just to prevent him from stealing you actuall two handed weapon. and then you can take his arm and beat him up with that. this is just an example of the liberty of the game. in order to win, you'll need five minutes; in order to be invincible and to have great scores, you'll need some time.

a thing i always appreciate in games is when you play it again after a while and everything is familiar, all commands are just right in your hands, and even after a year you don't play it, everything's just natural.

why hard to describe, you may wonder. i so far talked only of goods. lets talk about the bads...
if you're looking for an hack-and-slash game, and you don't want to think about anything for any reason, well... look somewhere else. i noticed that in thins case octavian is very frustrating,... amazingly frustrating, to tell you the truth. he is some sort of spy, and sometimes his sections will seem only too long... they are not that long, after all, but the break a little bit the things up, if you're only looking for a good fight, at least. i suggest you try it out before you buy it. i really liked it, but it may not be the same for everyone. have fun!
