The flaws in this game make it even more addictive.

I'm not sure how I came across this game, or why I find it so engaging. I bought it used while I was in college (it was cheap and I was poor). The graphics are terrible, the sound is below average and there are times when it is almost impossibly hard. The first portion of the game is pretty much 100% luck; either the the crabs come and kill you or they don't appear. Once you get past the grabs though it is completely addictive. I couldn't put it down once I started "evolving". The story takes way too long to develop. It has the same flaw as many other games of that time period; there is very little story until the end of the game at which time you are bombarded with cinematic sequences. I got sucked in by the difficulty and, ironically, the lack of story early. I frequently found myself wondering what was going on in the game and why this was all happening, but instead of turning me off, I only wanted to play more... If you have a lot of time to spare and like a good mystery with an interesting ending this is the game for you!
